Modulation Paddle Lever

Unlike on a hardware OB-X, the right paddle lever is the modulation lever on GForce’s Oberheim OB-X. This controls the amount of vibrato to be added to both Oscillators. If a patch already contains vibrato, this control will add more as it is moved towards the rear (again, unlike the original).

Pitch Bend Paddle Lever

Unlike on a hardware OB-X, the left paddle lever is the pitch bend lever on GForce’s Oberheim OB-X. This control is used to bend the pitches of the notes being played. Moving it toward the front causes the pitch to go down (unlike the original), and moving it towards the rear causes the pitches to go up. The Bend Range parameter determines its range.

<aside> 💡 We’ve changed the layout of these paddles away to align with the conventions found on all modern MIDI controllers.

OSC2 Only Switch

When this switch is on, only Oscillator 2 of each voice is affected by vibrato, the pitch bend level, or both (depending on the switch’s state. When the switch is OFF, vibrato and the pitch bend lever control both oscillators of each voice.

<aside> 💡 This has an interesting effect on programs in which the oscillators are in hard sync or cross mod configurations. See Oscillators.

Bend Range Window

The Bend Range parameter determines the Pitch Bend lever’s range. The pitch bend ranges between 2 and 48 semitones. Click and drag to quickly change range or right-click to choose from a menu.

Bend Range Lock icon

Clicking this will prevent the bend range from updating with patches.

Vibrato (VIB) Rate Knob

Vibrato Rate determines the speed at which the pitch modulation occurs. Faster rates create a more rapid vibrato, while slower rates result in a slower, more leisurely modulation. In Sync mode, the Vibrato Rates are from 1/32nd note to 4 bars. When un-synced, the Vibrato Rates are 0.063 to 8 Hertz.

Vibrato Sync Icon

This icon activates the Vibrato Sync mode. The vibrato times are synchronised to host DAW’s tempo and given in beats when the Sync icon is illuminated. In standalone mode, the tempo is set in the footer bar.

When off, the rate is not synchronised and is given in hertz.

Vibrato (VIB) Depth Knob

The Vibrato Depth knob controls the extent or range of the pitch modulation. Higher depth settings produce a more noticeable and pronounced vibrato effect, while lower settings produce a subtler modulation.
