The GForce Oberheim OB-1 is a meticulous emulation and enhancement of the often overlooked masterpiece, the 1978 Oberheim OB-1 synthesizer. This software recreation captures the authentic warmth and raw character of the original OB-1 while introducing modern enhancements that expand its versatility and usability.
The GForce Oberheim OB-1 retains the distinct sound-shaping capabilities, including its powerful oscillator and filter sections. Additionally, it augments the classic design with contemporary features such as advanced modulation options, polyphony, integrated effects, an arp, a sequencer, and a user-friendly interface, making it an ideal tool for both vintage synth enthusiasts and contemporary producers seeking to infuse their music with the timeless Oberheim sound.
Oberheim OB-1 sports our advanced preset browser. Presets are great starting points for producing a track or designing new sounds. The browser lets you quickly and easily find the sound you want thanks to the classification of the patches. You can also start sound design from our “Init” (i.e. basic) patch.
The core synth is located in the middle of the instrument. It is in this section that you will program the core sound of your patch.
Oberheim OB-1 can be controlled through your DAW. You can also use the keyboard to input or alternatively use the Arpeggiator or the 16-step Sequencer to control the synth. In Cycle mode, the Arpeggiator and Sequencer are synchronised to the DAW tempo.
The first time you open OB-1 is will be in “Extended” view where you can access the FX section, and the XLFOs and XADSR sections at the top of the instrument. You can choose to hide these more advanced features away by clicking on the inward-pointing diagonal arrows icon in the header bar. Click the icon again to expand OB-1 again.

Here, you will find four effects: High-Pass Filter, Chorus, Delay and Reverb. They will help you shape your patch as you desire.
Without using the X-LFO and X-ADSR, it is a fabulous, straightforward synth. But don’t overlook this section, as it vastly expands the sonic possibilities offered by Oberheim OB-1.
