Audio/MIDI Settings (Standalone Only)

In the standalone application the top section of the settings window is where you can choose your audio output and MIDI input device settings.

Instrument Settings

The rest of the settings window is where you can change various aspects of Prophet 5’s function. These settings will apply across all formats and instances.

Patch browser font scale

Allows you to increase the size of the text in the preset browser.

Tooltip timeout length (seconds)

Choose how long a tooltip displaying the parameter value or macro offset amount will remain visible in the display window after you finished moving it. Useful when you want to manually type a desired value into the tooltip.

MPE Enabled by Default

On - New instances of Prophet 5 will load with MPE already enabled in the footer bar.

Off (default) - New instances of Prophet 5 will load in standard MIDI mode.

Voice Allocation Mode

Normal - Traditionally Prophet 5’s temporally allocate notes to a specific voice, so that if that note is replayed before the synth runs out of voices, it will reuse the same voice. For instance, a note sequence of C, G, C, E will use voice 1, 2, 1 again, and 3.

Round Robin - An option on the new Rev 4 hardware, round robin mode always uses the next available voice. This is how the classic Oberheim’s did it. So, if we take our C, G, C, E example from before, the voices used in this case will be 1, 2, 3, 4. Not reusing one until we get to the polyphony setting.

<aside> ⚠️

Not all of Prophet 5’s voices sound the same! Therefore, in Round Robin mode, triggering one note over and over again will produce less consistent results than it does in Normal mode.
