The original

The original is a monophonic analogue synthesiser known for delivering powerful, punchy bass sounds with a rich, analogue character. Designed as a compact, affordable option for electronic musicians and producers, the Bass Station quickly gained popularity in the acid house, techno, and dance music scenes, where its sounds became a staple for basslines and leads alike.

The original Bass Station featured a two-oscillator design with selectable waveforms, a classic 12dB/octave filter, and essential controls for tweaking resonance, cutoff, and modulation. Its analog-inspired sound and straightforward interface made it ideal for live performances, giving users the hands-on control they craved.

Famed for its distinctive sound, the Bass Station was used on influential tracks like "No Good (Start the Dance)" by The Prodigy, solidifying its place in electronic music history. With its ability to emulate the warmth and growl of vintage synthesizers at a fraction of the cost, the Bass Station became a favourite among producers seeking authentic analogue tones in a compact, versatile package.

Novation Bass Station by GForce

GForce has transformed the classic Novation Bass Station into a powerhouse synth while staying true to its original analogue spirit. This reimagined version enhances the original's iconic character with a range of modern features, including a sub-oscillator for added depth and punch, a suite of effects like reverb, delay, and distortion, and advanced sound-shaping tools such as a sequencer and arpeggiator.

GForce has also added polyphony, allowing for rich, layered chords alongside unison and a vintage mode for that warm, analogue feel. Adding pan spread widens the sound, while GForce's unique x-modifiers offer immediate modulation control over nearly every parameter, unlocking new dimensions of creativity. With expanded tools like macros and a real-time scope to visualize waveforms, GForce's Bass Station reissue delivers both the nostalgia of the original and the versatility needed for contemporary production.
