MAP - The Era-Spanning Sound Design Playground

MAP takes the core of 1970s experimentation and transports it to the modern age, adding a host of features to create a unique and expansive synthesiser experience. Strange oscillations combined with extensive modulation and effects full of flavour in an instrument that will take you on a journey of sonic exploration.

MAP is designed to enable the finding and creation of striking and engaging synth sounds. It’s perfect for adding a powerful, distinctive core or sparkling, divergent textures to your productions with the ability to easily explore new styles and timbres.

Complex Oscillators, Simple Programming

MAP’s three oscillators, including a modulation oscillator, provide deep tone sculpting capabilities through the manipulation of amplitude, frequency and waveshape. These are fed into dual filters, one five-band resonant EQ and one multimode, that can be configured in series or parallel. A noise source with 9 different noise types rounds out the sound generation, adding character and grit to your creations. MAP is built with expression and experimentation in mind, and allows you to switch out presets for the oscillator and filter sections, enabling you to quickly and easily explore a universe of sonic possibilities.

Both the oscillator and filter sections in MAP contain XY Pad controllable macros, allowing subtle or sweeping changes to be performed with a single motion. With the macros being part of their respective modules, each time you load up a new oscillator or filter configuration, its relevant macros are also updated, completely changing the expressive input and musical output of the instrument.

Movement, Colour, Space, Time

MAP contains a whole range of ways to manipulate its synthesis. On the modulation side, there are three looping envelopes, three drawable LFOs and MPE support. An additional noise LFO, derived from the noise source in the oscillator section, creates random modulations to add organic movement to your sound while an arpeggiator with a polyphonic generative mode creates instant, evolving melodic inspiration. Add a streamlined mod matrix allows simple, immediate management of everything happening in your patch, and MAP becomes a synthesis powerhouse, capable of everything from thumping bass to ambient soundscapes.

MAP’s tonal shaping goes even further with the inclusion of three new effects. With Colour you can sculpt and destroy your upper and lower frequencies independently, Time is a quad delay with two modes for creating diverse and flexible rhythmic variation and Space creates swirling seas of grains and reverb to drown your sounds in. Whether you’re creating growling, rhythmic bass, powerful, expansive leads or wandering, lush soundbeds MAP’s toybox of the weird and inspiring will take your productions in adventurous new directions.
