The arpeggiator can be activated by setting the ARP/OFF/SEQ to ARP. The arpeggiator can be de-activated by setting the ARP/OFF/SEQ to OFF.
In Arpeggiator mode, only five controls are applicable: Mode, Rate, Swing, Octave and Probability. All other controls are greyed as they apply only to the sequencer.
Rate is used to specify the speed of the arpeggiation.
Note the arpeggiator is always synchronised to your host tempo, or the tempo displayed in the footer bar if using Novation Bass Station as a standalone application.
Swing is a way to alter the timing of notes played in a sequence slightly. As you increase the swing value, every second note will be delayed and play closer to the following note.
The Octave Selection determines the range of octaves over which the arpeggiated pattern will play. When you increase the octave setting, the arpeggiator will repeat the pattern at higher octaves in addition to the original, creating a wider, more layered sound. For example, setting Octave Selection to "2" would repeat the pattern at the original pitch and then one octave up, while a setting of "3" would add two higher octaves, adding complexity and richness to the arpeggio.
Mode enables setting how notes are played when playing the arpeggiator. There are four modes:
The Probability Knob controls the likelihood that each note in the arpeggiated sequence will play. By adjusting this knob, you can introduce randomness to the pattern, with lower probability settings making some notes "skip" and higher settings approaching full consistency. This feature adds an element of unpredictability and variation, creating more dynamic, evolving arpeggios that feel less repetitive.
The sequencer can be activated by setting the ARP/OFF/SEQ to SEQ. The sequencer can be de-activated by setting the ARP/OFF/SEQ to OFF.
